"God’s Plans Don’t Fail" (Romans 11:1–15)
Have you ever tried putting together furniture from IKEA? You open the box, and out fall 74 oddly shaped pieces, a miniature wrench, and instructions that might as well be in Egyptian hieroglyphs. Halfway through, you’re staring at something that looks more like abstract art than a bookcase. You step back and mutter, “This can’t possibly be the plan.”
Life feels like that sometimes. You follow the instructions, say your prayers, try to trust God—and things still feel backward, broken, or unfinished. That’s the kind of frustration Paul addresses in Romans 11.
The big question: Has God’s plan failed? Paul answers, “Absolutely not!” Even when it seemed like God’s own people had rejected Him, God was still working. Paul himself—a Jew turned Jesus-follower—was proof that God’s promises were alive and well.
Here are some key truths from Romans 11:
✅ God’s plans are good—even when people reject them. Your life may not look like the blueprint you expected, but God hasn’t abandoned you.
✅ God always has a faithful remnant. Elijah thought he was the only one left—but God had thousands more. You’re not alone either.
✅ God’s grace—not our performance—saves us. You don’t earn grace. You simply receive it.
✅ Hard hearts lead to spiritual blindness. If we keep ignoring God’s voice, we eventually stop hearing it altogether.
✅ Even rejection can’t derail redemption. God used Israel’s rejection to bless the Gentiles—just like He used Joseph’s betrayal and Jesus’ crucifixion to bring salvation.
✅ God’s plan is life—from the dead. God hasn’t given up on anyone. His plan is resurrection, not rejection.
✅ Your life can point others to Christ. Your hope, joy, and forgiveness may be what sparks someone else’s faith.
So what about you?
Will you trust the Master Builder—even if the instructions don’t make sense right now? Will you hand over the wrench and let Him finish the work?
Your story’s not over.
And the God who began it… never fails.
