Hold Tightly to Hope
Occasionally, I dream that I’ve gotten myself into a huge, complicated mess with no solution. Then, I realize I’m dreaming. In relief, I understand that when I wake up, I’ll be free.
If only the problems of real life were so easily solved! If only we could have hope no matter what we faced!
In fact, if we trust and obey Jesus we have indestructible hope despite life’s problems. Jesus says that we can have peace no matter the trouble since he has overcome the world. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." (Joh 16:33)
Why would we let that hope go? The writer of Hebrews warns us not to turn our backs on Jesus and lose the hope we have in him. “Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, "Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay.” (Heb 10:35-37)
Life is hard, and we can only make it through with Jesus’ help. With Jesus, victory is assured. Without Jesus, defeat is certain.
